Another Can't Miss Convention

There are multiple issues regarding the state budget and “reforms” proposed by the governor that concern us, and we will continue to lend support to our active colleagues whose collective bargaining rights and other rights are threatened. However, despite all the chaos at the capital, we have emerged where we as retirees need to be at this time. We will stay ever vigilant for new attacks and must remain prepared to defend what we have earned. But, appreciating what we have and celebrating our recent accomplishments is in order.

The convention will have its share of business with committee reports, legislative updates, TRS reports, recognition of past presidents, recognition of outstanding unit members, elections, and other items. But, there will also be plenty of fun with expanded exhibits from numerous firms and organizations. As added incentive to arrive in time to view this area on Monday morning, drawings will be held at 9:30, 10:30, and 11:30 with prizes to include a flat screen TV. There will also be raffle drawings during the convention for a $500 Visa Gift Card donated by president Dave Davison; a $500 Amazon Gift Card donated by Witches  Night Out event and more.  The Silent Auction of unit-donated baskets and other items will benefit the IRTAPAC.
